What is the tare function?
Most digital scales feature a tare function that subtracts the weight of a container so you are only measuring the contents. To use this feature simply place the empty container on the scale, press the tare button to reset the scale to zero, then add your items to be weighed.
Max weight
Also, check to see the maximum weight the scale can hold. Depending on whether you are regularly weighing peanuts or watermelons, it is an important consideration.
Backlighting
Some of the models offer a backlit LCD screen which can be helpful if you are going to be regularly using it in low-light conditions, for an early coffee or a late-night snack.
Portability
